When you’re living with the impact of a brain tumour, life after treatment isn’t necessarily straightforward. There can be physical, emotional and practical challenges that continue long after the hospital appointments and treatment have finished.
That’s why The Beyond Recovery Project exists.
The money we raise helps us provide practical support and create opportunities that can make a genuine difference to people’s lives.
It helps us train our volunteer walk leaders, so we can offer safe, supportive walks for people who might have lost confidence or ability and are trying to get back outdoors.
It helps members access counselling when they need professional emotional support.
It can provide practical equipment, such as adapted walking poles, which might seem like a small thing but can make a huge difference to someone who is struggling with balance, mobility or confidence.
It allows us to bring in qualified specialists, such as Mountain Leaders, so that we can provide outdoor activities safely and appropriately.
It also helps us run our wellbeing weekends. These are structured programmes designed around the needs of people living with the impact of a brain tumour. They give people space to step away from the everyday challenges of recovery, spend time with others who genuinely understand and work on their physical and emotional wellbeing.
And it helps us get information about The Beyond Recovery Project into GP surgeries, hospitals and other clinical settings, so that people who need support can actually find us.
As our community grows, we also listen to what our members tell us they need and use the money we raise to develop new support and opportunities where we can.
There’s something else that’s important to understand about The Beyond Recovery Project.
The organisation is run by volunteers.
Nobody involved in the day-to-day running of The Beyond Recovery Project takes a salary or wages from the money we raise. The directors, walk leaders and wider volunteer team give their time because they believe in what we’re trying to achieve.
That means the money raised can be focused on the people we’re here to support and on providing the services, equipment, activities and resources they need.

At the heart of everything we do is a simple aim: to help people move forward after a brain tumour and overcome some of the barriers that can make life afterwards so difficult.
Sometimes that might mean counselling.
Sometimes it might mean a piece of equipment.
Sometimes it might mean having a trained volunteer beside you on a walk.
And sometimes it might mean being given the chance to try something you never thought you could do again.
That’s what your fundraising helps make possible.
We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who donates, fundraises, volunteers or simply shares what we do.
Every bit of support helps us continue to be there for the people who need us.
The Beyond Recovery Project cannot exist without your support.
